Obituary
Randall Martin
The body of Randall Martin, colored, was discovered by Henry Mitchell
on Sunday, Jan. 16, 1881, on Chambers Creek. The story is that he drowned
in an attempt to drive a cow across the high waters of the creek on the previous
Thursday, and was washed away. His horse returned home very muddy and with
one stirrup torn. No marks of violence were found. It is believed that Martin
was living on Mr. Dabney Sims' place on Chamber's Creek.
