John Lambert Pace

J. L. Pace, 83, Ellis County pioneer farmer, died suddenly of heart failure
Saturday night at his home two miles north of town. He moved
to Texas from Tennessee in 1848, and settled near Rockett, later moving
to Palmer.
When only 14, he enlisted in the CSA and served in Parsons' Brigade four
years, taking part in some of the most important battles under that
commander.
Survivors include three sons, John M. of Ennis, James T. of Weatherford
and William of Palmer; five daughters, Mrs. Sallie Wilson of Readyville,
Tenn.; Mrs. S. J. Keith of Sweetwater, Texas; Mrs. Gussie Smith of Eufaula.
