[Source: Scrapbook belonging to Mrs. Joe Anna Dunaway] Born in Lincoln County, Tenn. Jan. 1, 1842, he joined the Confederate Army when 18, enlisting in Co. G, First Tennessee Volunteer Infantry. He was captured at Gettysburg and a prisoner at Fort Delaware until he and two conrades escaped and finally reached their own lines. He was captured again and received a death sentence on the false testimony of a Negro and several deserters. His life was saved only by the determined efforts of his mother. Edmondson came to Texas in 1865 and to Ellis County in 1867. He married Miss Elizabeth Elliott Cunningham December 22, 1882,and to them were born six children. He was brought up in the Presbyterian Church, but after his marriage, joined the Methodist Church with his wife and was a loyal and active member. He died Saturday Feb. 23, 1921 after a brief illness. Interment was in Bethel Cemetery. Survivors include his widow and children: Hugh N., Roger, Mrs. M. E. Hastings, George H., Miss Bettie Kate and Jim Mack; a brother, Elmo Edmondson, of Forreston, and a sister, Mrs. Ann Young, of Italy. See also Y. C.
