NOTES: Young Bonner farmed in Stewards Mill and served as a trustee of the Stewards Mill Common School District; his mules were well-known and sought after by farmers in several counties. While small in stature, his strength allowed him to grasp a bale of cotton and lift it from the ground. His word was his bond and his generosity and willingness to help legendary. Sallie Bonner attended Due West Female College in SC. She taught all her children excellent manners and always had food available for any visitor. Devout and faithful members of Harmony Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church at Stewards Mill, they instilled high ideal and morals in all their children. |
