NOTES: Just before the outbreak of the Civil War, Kid Bonner & Arch Huckaby ran off to marry as her family had another husband selected for her. Arch Huckaby was a member of the Fairfield Lodge No. 103, A.F.&A.M. He served in the CSA. His service was miserable from homesickness and worry over his family; he became ill with "typhoid pneumonia" and died in Galveston the day General Lee surrendered and his body was brought back to Fairfield for burial. Kid and her son Billie moved to the Huckaby home in Fairfield and lived there until her death; her husband's nephew, Fuller Huckaby, and his family cared for them. They were members of the Presbyterian Church. |
