Funeral services were held in Fairfield recently for Ruby Lurline Gilpin Emmons,
85, who died Friday, August 11.
Mrs. Emmons was born September 19, 1903, to Thomas Gilpin and Julie Dunbar
Gilpin and married Andrew Jackson Emmons, Jr. in 1923. She and her husband were
the parents of one son, Andy Don Emmons. Mrs. Emmons was a member of the Antioch
Baptist Church.
Services were conducted at 5p.m., Saturday, August 12, at Capps Memorial Chapel
with Dwight Atchley officiating and Walter Hickman assisting. Special music was
provided by Leslie Freeman.
Burial was at Fairfield Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Dr. J. H. Keller, Bobby Fred Hill, Dennis Day, Dewitt Emmons,
John Thompson, Beasley Terry, Harlin Anderson, Floyd Keeling and Noble Fortson.
Mrs. Emmons is survived by her daughter-in-law, Linda Emmons of Fairfield; a
grandson, Andy Don Emmons, Jr. of Fairfield; A granddaughter, Julee Emmons of
Fairfield; a brother, Rankin Gilpin of Fairfield; a sister, Ora Dee Anderson of
Fairfield; and several nieces and nephews.
