Mr S F Cook, former editor of the Albany, Texas News, and family have moved to Longview to engage in the newspaper business.

Rev Gallagher left Wednesday for Dallas.  He will return in time for his regular service next Sunday.

Miss Dell Brown, after a weeks visit with her father, Col J Wm Brown, returned to Gibbsland, La. last Sunday.

D D Pinkham, Hardware, furniture, carpets, sash doors, etc. etc, sewing machines and coffins.      (advertisement)

W S Mayfield returned from Nagodoches last Monday.

F T Rembert returned from the northern markets last Saturday.

R H Tutt traded for a fine piece of land near Gladewater recently.

John Harrison, the transfer man, has our thanks for favors extended.

Mrs Willoughby and children returned to their home at Kilgore last week.

Rev I Alexander returned Saturday from a weeks stay in Mineral Wells.

B J Warlick and wife were the guests of the editors family last Saturday.

Miss Lucia Whaley returned Saturday from a two weeks visit in Hallville  (sp)

Leslie McDaniel of Marshall spent several days last week with relatives here.

A D Pendley of the Times-Clarion force has our thanks for courtesies shown us.

J B Trimble, Commercial Agent for the Iron Mountain, was in Longview last week.

Walter L Harland has returned from a visit to his sister, Mrs S M Horine, in Little Rock, Ar.

Mrs M E Sparkman returned from St Louis last  Tuesday, where she has been to select a fall stock of millinery.

W W Moore, P O Baird and Louis Dreeben of Henderson, were pleasant callers to this office Wednesday morning.

Mrs N E Grammer and children of Fort Worth are visiting the lady?s parents, Mr and Mrs F L Whaley, this week.

Miss Naomi Ginn, formerly of this place, now of Taylor, Texas, passed through here Tuesday, enroute home from New York City.

The Dr Lawrence gin, at this place, has been in running order for several days, and has turned out quite a number of bales of cotton.

We had the pleasure of meeting Mun Dixon and Wm Skipper last Tuesday, and appreciated the hearty welcome extended us by them.

Blue Graves, an old time printer, was a pleasant caller at the News office last Tuesday. He has not forgotten how to handle the stick.

F L Young, manager for the poplular dry goods houses of Mistrot Bros & Co at Henderson and Longview, spent last Friday and Saturday in our city.

We learn that Rev Merrill of Sulphur Springs, has been called to the pastorate of the First Baptist church of this place, and will be here about 15th inst.

Misses Anna Kate and Moggie Etheridge of Palestine, Texas, stopped over with Miss Frankie Whaley, a few hours Friday while on their way to visit friends in Dallas.

John Flurry of Overton was here Tuesday.

Gus Barton of Kilgore was in the city Wednesday.

J W Pope of near Kilgore was doing business here Wednesday.

E E Crain?s residence near the Baptist church is nearing completion.

T J Mercer of the Forrest Home neighborhood was circulating among his many friends in the city Wednesday.

Mrs May De Harrison and children, who have been visiting relatives in Little Rock, Ark., returned home Tuesday.

Dr G W Wyche, Judge J W Blackburn, and P A Dickson of Elderville attended the funeral of Hon. R C DeGraffenreid here Tuesday.

Dr C W Lawrence, George Reynolds, James Castleberry, and Holley Lawrence returned last week from the northern cities, where they went as an investigating committee in regard to machinery for a box, crate, and veneering factory, at this place.

Mrs. Sam Wilson and children are visiting in Kilgore.

I Gans returned from the northern markets last Friday.

Mr & Mrs Rembert and Miss Minnie Buttrill have returned from New York.

Watt Wynn, Jr, John F Reynolds and John Harris and wife of Kilgore were in the city this week.

Mr George A Carter, son of Mr & Mrs C P Carter of this city, was married to Miss Mary Davis of Palestine, last Wednesday.

H I Smith returned Friday from New York.

Mr G A Miller and children have returned from Atlanta.

Mrs Fidelia Kilgore of Quitman, formerly of this place, was in our city this week.

Mr J D Hoyler and little daughter Annie Dee are visiting in Gladewater and other points.

M L Cunningham, the Dallas News circulator, has an advertisement in The News.

R H Witt & Bro. dealers in wines, whiskies, etc. had The News do some printing for them.

M L Cunningham at Western Union Telegraph office is general agent for all magazines and newspapers.

O H Pegues, dealer in live stock, had us do some printing for him, with which he expressed himself as being well pleased.

The News printed a lot of cotton seed receipt books for L M Bramlette last week.  Mr Bramlette is in the market for cotton seed.

The cement walk around the Leroy Trice building, recently completed by Messrs. Palmer and Shaw, is a spendid piece of work.

Henry H Howell, President of the Citizens National Bank called at our office last Friday and handed us a copy for the bank advertisement.

J T Poe, next door to the post office will repair watches, clocks, and jewelry cheaper than anybody in town, and guarantees all work.

N S Ward visited The News office yesterday.  Mr Ward came in to inspect our engine, and is thinking of putting one in his meat market for general purposes.

I will begin teaching my music class at the college on the eighth of September and respectfully enlist the patronage of all the patrons of the school. Kathleen Fitzgerald

F T Rembert and Ras Young left Saturday for New York, on business pertaining to the T S V & N W.

Miss Ida Hill of Beckville spent Monday of last week with Miss Gussie Burr.
