Alexander Institute Notes from the Times Clarion Oct. 23, 1896

This information was found in the vertical files of the genealogy department of the Longview Public Library.

Ezekiel, Joe and Nettie Willingham are new pupils.  Enrollment has reached considerable over 100 in private school and Professor H G Abernathy informs us that he is receiving a number of letters of inquiry about the school.

We learn that Marion Harris will move to his home in Kilgore.

Joe Sparks has bought the Smith place and will move here to
the benefit of our school.

Last Friday was the close of our second month, and an examination was held on the work the pupils had done.  The examination proved the thoroughness of the work in the various departments, and the visitors present unhesitatingly expressed their appreciation of the growth and management of Alexander Institute.  Visitors present were Messrs. R W Wynn Sr., W D Thompson, G A Erwin, B F Martin, John Bean, J E Hearn, J T Butts, Bert Barnett, Rev J M MIlls, Hill, Hall; Mesdames C J Angel, L P Griffin, M E Griffin, R W Wynn Sr., R J Watson, J M Huffington, R F Honea, J E Hearn, M Spear, M B Thompson, M I Kay, C I Holt, Moore, Hill, Misses Tenie and Allie Keener, Daisy Nicholson, Annie Bell Hughey, Mollie Angell, Alice Wechsler, Willie and Mack Reynolds, Cumi, Danie, and May Barnett.

We cordially invite the people to call around and hear our geometry class, which made such a reputation, and the literature class, which is unexcelled.

One of our boys in civil government is very much displeased with the present way of government and prefers to be ruled by a king.

Misses Willie O and Blanch Eddins, Shannon (teacher from Nashville, Tenn.) Moore, and Willie May Butts were delightfully
entertained at Mrs W L Holt's from Friday until Sunday.
