GLADEWATER HI-WAYS November 14, 1924 Gladewater High School Publishers Daphne Phillips Editor J W DICKERSON HIT BY CAR J W Dickerson, a citizen well known to everyone in the Gladewater territory,
was seriously injured Sunday, November 2, when he stepped in front of
a moving car. For several hours it was not known how serious the injury
was, and his friends were much concerned over his condition. After
several days of suffering, however, he is out on the streets, but is
not entirely recovered yet. PICNIC ON RIVER Despite the showers or rain which fell Monday Nov. 11, during the day
several people from town enjoyed a hunting and fishing excursion on
the river. During the morning the men hunted and by lunch a goodly
amount of game had been killed. A lovely lunch was served at the
noon hour. Those who enjoyed this "stunt" were Mr & Mrs Lyle
Hendrix, Mr & Mrs John Hendrix, Mr & Mrs T L Bray, Mr &
Mrs Chas Norton, Mrs E T Norton, Miss Fay Norton, Mrs Lillian Hendrix
and Cronje Shepperd. Mrs Howard Bell, who has been seriously ill at the home of her daughter Mrs J T Little at Pittsburg, was brought home Tuesday Nov. 11 by Mrs R M Wood and Miss Pauline Bell. Mrs Bell stood the trip very well. We hope she will continue to improve. GLADEWATER NEW NOTES: Uncle Jim Mackey departed Thursday for a visit with his niece Mrs J W Dixon in Teneha. Mr & Mrs Avis Pritchett and children motored to Big Sandy to visit relatives. Mr & Mrs Wallace Norton of Marshall and Mrs & Mrs Lee Norton and baby of Longview, were Sunday guests of their mother, Mr E T Norton. Mrs Mark Hendrick is home from a Longview hospital, apparently on the road to permanent recovery. P W Chandler and mother, Mrs T H Chandler, and sister Mrs J E Croley stopped over for a short time with Mrs & Mrs O G Chandler, Thursday afternoon. Mrs O G Johnston, Dora Mc Comic and S D Todd and daughter, Mary Ella, spent Thursday in the home of Mr & Mrs J H Phillips. Miss Irene Murphy of Tryon school, is expected as a week-end guest of Miss Genevieve Smith in the home of L A Jeter. She was one of our school faculty last term. Mr & Mrs W W Bradley were in Dallas on business last week. Miss Hazel Ponder attended a party in Big Sandy, Friday evening Nov 7. Mr & Mrs Lawrence Birdsong and son of Longview, were in town Sunday afternoon. Alvin Seago and Jewel Blackstone of Big Sandy were seen in town Sunday afternoon. Mrs Hardy Petty of Gilmer, visited her old class-mate, Miss Beulah Rutledge here Monday. Harold Chronister and Harvey Hearns of Big Sandy were the guests of Elouise Barker and Daphne Phillips, Sunday evening. G A Magrill and family spent Armistice Day with their daughter, Miss Ruth, at Lon Morris College, at Jacksonville, and attended a football game. Thelma Tucker, Pauline Bell, Lila Bess Hendrix, and Frank Shepperd visited Mrs H Bell at the home of her daughter, Mrs J T Little at Pittsburg, Sunday. After the fire at her home, Mrs Victory found a ring in the yard. The owner can get it by calling for it. W W Bradley, C C Dunnaway and W E Barker left Monday for South Texas,
