of a copy of a newspaper article. THE TIMES CLARION Longview, Texas Oct. 23, 1896 "Kilgore Jottings" Mr. Taylor, wife and children of Alpine are on a visit to L P Griffin and family. Harry Parks of Bagwell is doing a land office business as agent for C P Cory & Company. Mr Parks has by fair dealing and courteous manners made many friends in Kilgore. R F Honea, our genial railroad agent, has been a great sufferer of neuralgia. Solon King was appointed superintendent and public instructor at the Crossroads Schools. J M Huffington of Longview is over to see loved ones this week. Mrs R F Honea and Dr C Holt visited Longview this week. L P Griffin dreamed he saw a certain man running some cotton off to Tyler that belonged to him, and he boarded the train early the next morning and when he arrived in Tyler, lo and behold, there was the cotton. Thomas M Frederick visited Longview Monday. H W Miller is having his house repaired this week. R W Wynn, Jr has the prettiest residence in town. Tom Simons of Winnford was on a visit to his brother, R C Richard, Saturday. Barton and Erwin are having the fron of their store painted. Mrs Tully Choice and baby are attending the Dallas Fair. J T Butts and Albert Barefield of Kilgore were in the city Monday. Miss Lidia Langley of Pine Hill is visiting Miss Carrie Hoyler. R H Rowland of Danville was here on business on Monday. Thad Barber of Powder Horn was on our streets Monday. G A Erwin and Dr C I Holt were in the city yesterday. Attorney F B Martin of Kilgore was in the city enroute home from a business trip to Gladewater. Rev Tully Choice was here Tuesday enroute to his home in Kilgore from
the Cherokee Baptist Assn. at Rusk and informed us that 59 churches
were represented there. |
