Placed 11-29-2000 - Athens Review Anna (Brown) Bennett A memorial service for Anna Brown Bennett, 96, of Athens are scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Thursday at First Christian Church of Athens with the Rev. Don Wilson officiating. A private burial will precede the service at Athens City Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Foster & Brown Funeral Home of Athens. Mrs. Bennett died Nov. 27, 2000, in Athens. She was born Sept. 10, 1904, in Blooming Grove. She was elected to the office of Henderson County Clerk and remained in office for 18 years. Mrs. Bennett was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Bennett; parents, Joe and Hulda Brown; son, Corky Bennett; daughter-in-law, Patsy Bennett Harvey; son-in-law, Judd Ramsey of Arlington; brother and sister-in-law, Marion and Lynette Brown; sister and brother-in-law, Lois and Conner Dickson of Corsicana; sister, Josephine Brown; brother-in-law, W.J. Fondren; and aunt, Alpha Attaway. Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph and Maggie Bennett of El Paso, Pat and Donna Bennett of Athens and Jack and Patsy Bennett of Spring; daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Boone Fields of Athens, Lois and James Ditto of Arlington, Margaret and Bob Redden of Rockwall and Conner and Dan Barnes of Athens; sister, Dortha Fondren of Corsicana; 19 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Building Fund at First Christian Church or to the Trinity Valley Community College Scholarship Fund.
