Robert 'Bob' Arnold Services for Robert "Bob" Arnold, 74, of Athens are scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday at Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home Chapel in Athens with the Rev. Bryan Adair officiating. Burial will be in Athens City Cemetery. Mr. Arnold died March 16, 1999, at East Texas Medical Center Athens following a long illness. He was born June 24, 1924, and lived in Athens for the past 14 years. Mr. Arnold married Lillian A. Adams Aug. 3, 1985. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II, where he was awarded a Purple Heart. He was a farmer and rancher for the past five years. Mr. Arnold is survived by his wife, Lillian Arnold of Athens; sons and daughters-in-law, Danny and Lindee Arnold and Donnie Arnold, all of Garland, Lewis Deets of Denton, Billy and Janice Deets of Corpus Christi, James and Julie McWhorter and Bobby McWhorter, all of Athens; daughters and sons-in-law, Bobbye and Scott Moss of Garland, Julia and Doyle Wallace and Juliett and Jack Hatcher, all of Fort Worth, Pam McWhorter and Anita and Dub McWhorter, all of Athens; 21 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Tim Wheeler, Eric Smith, Bubba Smith, Steve Allen, Sammy Ramirez and J.C. Hart Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Hatcher, Scott Moss, and R.B. Richardson. Visitation with the family will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
