Derea Inez Jenkins Funeral services for Derea Inez Jenkins, 74, of Athens are scheduled noon Monday at Mount Calvary Baptist Church with Revs. Jerry Dennis, J.D. Hawkins, Warren G. Clark, Charles Jenkins and E. Charles Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Athens Cemetery under the direction of Garrett & Tucker Funeral Directors in Athens. Mrs. Jenkins was died March 6, 2002, in Athens. She was born July 15, 1927, in Belton, S.C., to Clyde and Hattie Johnson Thompson. She moved to Chicago in the 1950s. In 1997, she moved to Athens and was a member of True Vine Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, the Rev. Maceo Jenkins Sr., in May 1994. Survivors include her 11 children, Hattie Mills, Maceo Jenkins Jr., Larry Jenkins, Charles Jenkins, Deborah Jenkins, Elizabeth Jenkins, Andrew Michael Jenkins and Christine Stuckey, all of Athens, Steve Jenkins of Carrollton, Sharon Sterling of Merrillville, Ind., and Billy Jenkins of Southern California; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; five sisters, Dorothy, Troy, May, Amaleada and Betty; one brother, John Hardy; and numerous other relatives. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
