Funeral services for Dan Lee Hopwood, 60 of Athens were held 2 p.
m. Saturday May 4 at the Foster & Brown Funeral Home with the Rev.
C.O. Jackson Jr. officiating. Burial was in the Athens City Cemetery.
Mr. Hopwood died May 1 at an Athens hospital after a sudden illness.
He was born April 23, 1925 in Texas and had been an Athens resident 
the past 20 years, formerly residing in Maysville Ky, He owned and 
operated the Hopwood Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Co. He was 
a baptist and a member of the Veterans Of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include his wife, Pat, his mother Alice of Athens, three 
sons Dan Lee Hopwood Jr. of Cincinnati, Ohio, Nelson and Doug Both 
of Mysville Ky, two stepsons Jerry McCarty of Athens and Thomas Kendall 
of Athens, two brothers David of Corpus Christi, and Skeeter of Dallas,
five sisters Margaret Odom and Dorothy Loper both of Athens and 
Nancy Garrett, Janille Griffin and Mattie Dell Jones all of Corsicana 
and six grandchildren. 
Pallbearers were Kemper Gleason, J. C. Lindley, Bob Hawkins, Jay 
Gregg, Delbert Lewis, Larry Fletcher and Jack Milson
