September 10, 2002 Obituaries - Placed 9-10-2002 Emajon Meredith Jones Services for Emajon Meredith Jones, 79, of Athens are scheduled for 4 p.m. Tuesday at Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Lynn Parker officiating. Burial will follow at Athens Cemetery under the direction of Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home of Athens. Mrs. Jones died Sept. 9, 2002, in Athens. She was born Aug. 30, 1923, in Henderson County to Alfred Henry and Lillian Criswell Meredith. Mrs. Jones resided in Athens for 40 years and was a member of First United Methodist Church. After attending college at West Texas State College in Canyon, she worked for 27 years as a forecaster for the United State Weather Bureau, specializing in upper air weather observation. She lived in Franklinville, N.C., from 1969 until 1983. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde W. Jones, in 1984. Survivors include her brothers and sisters-in-law, Jim Tom and Jeanne Meredith and Jack and Wanda Meredith, all of Athens; sister, Shirley Calhoun of Athens; nephews, Martin Meredith of Plano and Mark Meredith of Franklin, Tenn.; nieces, Kathy Wood of Greenville, Lynne Waller of Montgomery and Melissa Neyland of Daisetta. Pallbearers will include Martin Meredith, Mark Meredith, Mike Wood, Jeff Wood, Don Neyland and Brad Pace. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 911, Athens, TX 75751.
