Jason 'JaBo' Miers

Funeral services for Jason "JaBo" Miers, 21, of Athens are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Lake Athens Baptist Church with the Rev. John Green and the Rev. Frank Upchurch officiating. Interment will follow at Athens Cemetery under the direction of Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home of Athens.

Mr. Miers was born Aug. 1, 1981, in Dallas and passed away July 19, 2003, in Athens. He was a resident of Athens all his life. He attended Lake Athens Baptist Church. He loved teaching, entertaining and working with children, and also loved to fish and hunt. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Larry Greene; and grandmother, Jane Elizabeth Greene.

Survivors include his mother and father, Paula and David Vance of Athens; uncles and aunts, Sonny and Sandy Miers of Longview, Eddie and Kaye Miers of Malakoff and Dewayne and Kim Greene of Athens; aunt and uncle, Dorothy and Michel Depew of San Jose, Calif.; great-aunt, Eula Pearl Davis of Athens; and numerous cousins.

Pallbearers will include Brad Miers, Bryan Miers, James Miers, John Baker, Brandon Justice and Michel Depew. Honorary pallbearers will include Chad Greene, Ryan Brown and Jacob Stout.

Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
