Joshua Lee 'Josh' Tackett Services for Joshua Lee Tackett, 15, of Athens are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mrs. Jane McI. VanAuken, the Rev. Lynn Parker and the Rev. Dan Middleton officiating. Burial will be in the Athens City Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home of Athens. Josh died Monday, Oct. 19, 1998, in Athens. He was born July 27, 1983, in Tyler to Lawrence Lee and Martha L. Bassett Tackett. He lived in Athens all of his life and was a sophomore at Athens High School, where he was a starter for the Athens Hornets junior varsity football team. A member of Boy Scout Troop #343, Pioneer 4-H and the First United Methodist Church of Athens, he showed livestock at the Henderson County Livestock Show. He enjoyed football, outdoor sports and loved to hunt, fish and camp out with his father. He is survived by his parents, Lee and Martha Tackett of Athens; sister, Jennifer Lee Tackett of College Station; grandparents, Wyndel and Willetta Tackett of Koon Creek and Jim and Mary Bassett of College Station; great-grandmother, Vera Tackett of Dublin; and numerous uncles, aunts and cousins. Pallbearers will include Darrell Allen, Keith Tull, Jim Clark, Rick Tackett, Joe Newman, Steve Tackett, Bill Flowers and John Bassett. Honorary pallbearers will be the junior varsity football team, trainer and coaches. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday.
