Athens Daily Review, Monday, Aug. 16, 1971 Kate Chelf Dies; Services Held Monday Funeral services for Mrs. Kate Chelf, 72, of Athens were held in the chapel of Hassell and Foster Funeral Home with the Rev. H. A. Springfield officiating. Burial was in the Athens City Cemetery. She died Saturday night in an Athens hospital after a long illness. She was a native and lifelong resident of Henderson County. She was a member of the United Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband, W. A. (Walter, "Shorty") Chelf; a son, Frank Baker of Athens; two brothers, Homer Williams of Athens and John Williams of Athens; a sister, Mrs. Minnie Lee Spears of Nederland. Pallbearers were Edgar Jackson, Bill Yelvington, M. K. Miller Jr., Harold Fowler, Jack Meredith and Jack Holland.
