September 05, 2002 Obituaries - Placed 9-5-2002 Kenneth Denson Russell Graveside services for Kenneth Denson Russell, 88, of Athens are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday at Athens Cemetery, with the Rev. Curtis Mathis officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home in Athens. Mr. Russell died Sept. 2, 2002, in Athens. He was born July 8, 1914, in Duncan, Okla., to John Francis and Lela Yarrell Russell. He had been a resident of Athens for 55 years. He was a deacon at First Baptist Church Athens and retired from Reliable Paraservice after 45 years of service. He was a Sea Bee in the U.S. Navy in World War II. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Dora May Russell of Athens; sons and daughter-in-law, Kent Royall Russell of Memphis, Tenn., and Randall and Eileen Russell of Prescott, Ariz.; grandchildren, Dan Russell of Oklahoma City and Tom Russell of Tulsa, Okla. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Key, Dr. Douglas Curran, L.M. Yarbrough, Sam Powell and Thurl Hatton. Visitation will be 6-7 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
