Mary Jo Tanner Memorial services for Mary Jo Tanner, 78, of Athens are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday at Eastern Hills Church of Christ with David Mahan and Lavelle Layfield officiating. Private burial will be at Athens Cemetery under the direction of Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home of Athens. Mrs. Tanner died May 12, 2004, at home. She was born Dec. 1, 1925, in Athens to the late J.W. and Lela Sherman Donalson. She lived in Athens 40 years, where she was an active member of Highland Oaks Church of Christ. She moved back to Athens in 1986. She was a member of Eastern Hills Church of Christ, Henderson County Womans Club, the Athens Literary Club, the Henderson County Garden Club and was an avid bridge player. Survivors include her husband, Douglas W. Tanner of Athens; sons and daughter-in-law, Philip and Laura Tanner of Dallas; daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and David Deas of Round Rock; and grandchildren, Amy Tanner, Derek Deas, Dustin Deas, Allison Ball and Jimmie Cornett. Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Eastern Hills Church of Christ, P.O.
