Mary Juanita Sholars Services for Mary Juanita Sholars, 73, of Athens are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church with the Revs Lynn Parker and Nick Sholars officiating. Burial will follow at Athens City Cemetery under the direction of Foster & Brown Funeral Home in Athens. Mrs. Sholars died Sept. 12, 1999, in Temple. She was born Aug. 22, 1926, in Henderson County to Royce and Leola Chancellor Snell. She retired from the Athens Independent School District. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, and the Apostles Sunday School Class. She was an avid bridge player and was an active participant in the walk of Emmaus. She is survived by her husband, Ralph "Shorty" Sholars of Athens; son and daughter-in-law, the Rev. Nick and Marty Sholars of Katy; daughter and son-in-law, Celia and Larry Smith of Houston; grandchildren, Meredith Sholars and Kent Sholars, both of Katy and Grant Smith of Houston; and many other relatives. Pallbearers will be Buddy Trammell, Ko-Ko Aurbach, Jimmy Mitchell, Winston Bran, Ray Reed and Tom Jordan. Vitiation is scheduled for 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
