Athens Daily Review Tanya Escobar Funeral services for Tanya Escobar, 18, of Athens are scheduled 3 p.m. Wednesday at Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Hervin Antonio officiating. Burial will be in Athens Cemetery. Miss Escobar died March 16, 2002, from injuries suffered in an automobile accident. She was born Dec. 26, 1983, in Honduras to Jose Mercedes Valdez and Juana Mercedes Guzman. She had been a resident of Athens for the past seven years, and attended Athens High School, where she was due to graduate with the class of 2002. She was a member of the Spanish Club. Survivors include her mother, Juana Guzman of Athens; father, Jose Mercedes Valdez, of Honduras; brother and sister-in-law, Oscar and Lourdes Valdez of Athens; sisters and brothers-in-law, Nancy and Juan Miranda of Athens, Fatina and Carols Perez of Palestine, Kenya and George Escobar of Athens, Lourdez Dinora and Carlos Valdez of New York, Mayra Zulema Escobar of Honduras; numerous uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces and cousins. Honorary pallbearers will be the 2002 graduating class of Athens High School. Family visitation will be 5:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
