Vesta Messenger Scott  
 
Private family memorial services for Vesta Scott, 89, of Dallas and formerly of Athens, were held Sunday at Athens Cemetery under the direction of Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home.

Mrs. Scott died April 25, 2004, in Dallas.

She was born Nov. 26, 1914, in Union City, Okla., to the late Chris R. and Fannie McMahan Messenger.

She graduated from Union City High School, attended Hill Business College in Oklahoma City and worked eight years for National Security Insurance Company before marrying Charles "Snorter" Scott in 1943.

She was preceded in death by her husband; two sons, Henry Clay Scott and Randy Chris Scott; and sister, Violet V. Hazelwood.

Survivors include nieces, Carolyn Hazelwood Ericson of Charleston, S.C., Mary Ruth Moore and husband, Bob, of Georgetown, Sara Cox of Athens; and cousins, Janice Miller of Athens and Ouida Johnson of Dallas.
