Bettye Lou Strickland Services for Bettye Lou Strickland, 64, of Mesquite are scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday at Tomlinson Funeral Home Chapel in Seven Points with the Rev. Thomas J. Norvell officiating. Burial will follow at Mankin Cemetery in Henderson County under the direction of Tomlinson Funeral Home of Seven Points. Ms. Strickland died March 31, 2001, in Mesquite. She was born Jan. 20, 1937, in Shelby County to the late Ernest E. and Zilla Strickland. Ms. Strickland was a resident of Mesquite for 30 years. She was a member of Quietwood Baptist Church of Dallas. She worked as a teacher's aide with Mesquite ISD. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Vernon Strickland. Survivors include her children and their spouses, Russell and Christel Tabler of Carrollton; Robin and David Thurman of Nashville, Ark., Roxanne Boyd of Marshall and Angela and Tommy Ewton of Mesquite; sisters, June Conner of Trinidad, Bobbie McCullough of Trinidad and Mickey Fryman of Ennis; and 10 grandchildren, Joshua, hannah, lana, Dale, Kenneth, Maranda, Sara, Tara, Joseph and Olivia. Pallbearers will be Tommy Ewton, Russell Tablor, Dale Stewart, Gene Stinson, Kenneth McCullough, Tim Conner, David Thurman and Danny Fryman will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Joshua Stinson and Bob Vail. Memorials may be made to Vitas Hospice of Dallas or to Quietwood Baptist Church at 13719 Seagoville Road, Dallas, TX 75253.
