James O'Neal Graveside services for James O'Neal, 86, of Trinidad are scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday at Mankin Cemetery in Trinidad with the Rev. Steve Glosup officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home of Mabank. Mr. O'Neal died Dec. 13, 1998, in Temple following a long illness. He was born May 17, 1912, in Welcome, Ark., to Edward and Berti Riddle O'Neal. Mr. O'Neal moved to Trinidad in 1969. He was Methodist by faith and retired from the real estate business. Mr. O'Neal was a World War II veteran and had been a prisoner of war that participated in the Bataan Death March. He was awarded the WWII Victory Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Ribbon, American Defense Service Ribbon and a Bronze Star. Mr. O'Neal also earned the A P Theater Ribbon and one Bronze Service Star, Philippine Defense Ribbon and one Bronze Star. He is survived by his wife, Lois O'Neal of Trinidad; daughters, Elaina Lewis of Mt. Calm and Virginia Fletcher of Payne Springs; one sister, Mary Veasey of Shreveport, La.,; one sister-in-law, Gwen Woods of Trinidad; three grandchildren, Jennifer Jessica Laura, both of Canton and Monica Lewis of Mt. Calm; One great-grandchild, Brandon Laura of Canton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
