Lloyd Walter Lingberg Mass of Christian Burial for Lloyd Walter Lingberg, 83, of Trinidad are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday at St. Jude Roman Catholic Church in Gun Barrel City. Burial will follow at Mankin Cemetery in Mankin under the direction of Tomlinson Funeral Home of Seven Points. Mr. Lingberg died April 10, 2000, in Trinidad. He was born April 6, 1917, in Clay County, S.D., to E.W. Lingberg and Florence Peterson Lingberg. Mr. Lingberg spent his early years on the family homestead in South Dakota. He served in the Army Air Corp during World War II. After the war, he returned to the homestead with his wife and first child, only to be forced to give up farming after a serious accident. In 1952, he moved to Texas, where he remained the rest of his life. He was a former commander of the VFW Post No. 4133 in Trinidad. He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine; and two brothers. Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Cyndra Lingberg of Plano, James and Ginger Lingberg of Rockville, Md., Lloyd Jr. and Marla Lingberg of Alba and John and Susan Lingberg of Garland; daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Daniel Berryman of Garland; brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Corrine Lingberg of Beresford, S.D.; sister and brother-in-law, Eleanor and Peter Christensen of Vermillion, S.D.; grandchildren, Jim, Rob, Barbara Jay, Nathan, Jacob, Lauren, Amie, Sarah and David; and many nieces, nephew and cousins. A Rosary and visitation will begin at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
