Bertie Durden

Graveside services for Bertie Durden, 77, of Athens are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday in the Shelby Chapel Cemetery with the Rev. Ken Cannon officiating.

Burial arrangements will be under the direction of Carrol-Lehr Funeral Home.

Mrs. Durden died Tuesday, Sept. 8, 1998, in the Park Highland Nursing Home.

She was born June 23, 1921, in Toccoa, Georgia to the late John Henry and Ada Jane Cheek Cox.

A resident of Athens for 24 years, Mrs. Durden was a homemaker.

Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Ruth Ann Durden of Athens; brother Joe Cox of Riverdale, Georgia; sisters, Kathy Youngblood of Winfield, Ala., Susie Crane of Walhalla of South Carolina, Ann Starchvick of Chicago, Ill. ; grandchildren, Chris Durden, Chad Durden, great-grandchildren; Amanda and Haley Durden.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
