Arbuckle/Thomas Cemetery History Oldest grave is that of Mary Thomas Hall, daughter of Arminto (Benge) Thomas and Jacob Thomas Jr. who died before 1903. This makes this cemetery as of April 2002 ninety nine years old. There are several unmarked graves in this cemetery. Directions to: Located approximately 5.7 miles north of Athens Texas. From the Courthouse in Athens take Highway 19 North to CR 3911 and turn left. Follow CR 3911 exactly 1 and 5/10 miles staying to the right as the road "Y"'s. Land is now owned by the Bray family who have worked to restore this wonderful old cemetery. New headstones have been made by the Mills Brothers with the old headstones that were broken restored with metal around them. Sixteen new headstones in all were purchased. GET PERMISSION BEFORE ENTERING. Open gate on left and drive through pasture and across creek (dry weather only). Road will lead directly to the cemetery on top of the hill. According to Mr. J. H. "Buck" Graham the Edwards Family is also buried here. It was once called: Old Arbuckle Cemetery, Old Roach Cemetery, Cox Cemetery, Edwards Cemetery and Cecil Austin Cemetery.
