** There is one marker for the Ricks Family. The names and dates are all listed on one marker.
There is a White section and a Black section of Fort Houston.
This is a partial listing of the African American section of the Fort Houston Cemetery in Palestine, 
Anderson County, Texas. This is almost the complete list of Fort Houston (Black). The only ones 
that are not listed are the markers I could not get a good picture of. I will be going back to get the 
other names that has to be handwritten at the cemetery.I transcribed the cemetery with a digital camera. 
There are some old markers and temp markers that are very hard to read, and some graves are 
unmarked. There are also at least one marker that a old tree has fell on. There are also a couple of 
markers that are on the edge of the woods that may be hard for me to get the information off of.
I have tried not to make any errors in the information. If you find any errors please contact me and I 
will correct it.
There are a couple of graves that have fallen in and and a couple of graves have had almost all of the 
dirt washed away from it. All of the cemetery is not that way. 
This cemetery is still active and many graves have flowers on them. I have taken digital pictures of all 
the markers that I could. I would be happy to share the pictures with anyone that has a family member 
or friend buried there.
