 Till, Veteran of 32 Months in Pacific Receives Discharge
 Adous LeRoy Till, veteran of the Pacific Theater of War, has received a discharge from the Navy with the rating of MoMM 1/c, and has returned to his home in the Carroll Springs community.
 
 He entered the service on August 8,1942, and served thirty-two months in the South Pacific. He wears the Good Conduct Medal, and the Pacific Theater of operations ribbon with three battle stars.
 
 While on duty, his rest periods were in Auckland, New Zealand, and Guam was his home port at the time of his discharge. He received his discharge last December 19.
 
 He plans to rest for a while and then go to school under the G.I. Bill of Rights.
 
 He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. A. N. Till, of route 3, Palestine. Mr. and Mrs. Till have two other sons in the service, Howard and W. C. Till, both of whom are on their way home for discharge.
 

Draft Board Receives Discharge Papers for 28 Henderson Co Men

Discharge papers for twenty-eight Henderson County men and women were received Friday by the local Selective Service Board. They are: Hilly F. Rogers, Ernest Francis, Charles Madison Smith, Johnnie C. Henderson, Willie A. Morgan, William P. Quinn, Fred Henderson, Dolphus Edward Chapman, Jesus Peres Fuentes, Raymond G. Magers, Jr., Etheldred Wells Carnes, L. C. Owens, Wade H. Barnes, Leonard William Marshall.

James Henry Southerland, Granville Lee Southerland, Harvey Tilmer Grier, Jr., Louelia Owen (ANC), Earl Douglas Mullins, Hubert J. Brewer, Marvin R. Hall, Clyde B. Tidmore, James E. Beard, James E. Spradlin, Herbert D. Campbell, May Elizabeth Payne (NC, USNR), Durward Dingler and William H. Henderson.

Barber, Veteran Of Pacific Theater Receives Discharge
W. T. Barber, son of Mr. and Mrs. N. T. Barber of Athens, has received a discharge from the Marine Corps and is now with his wife and daughter, Fan, at their home in Coahoma.
Mr. Barker, who held the rating of corporal, served for two years in the Pacific with the Marine Second Division. He participated in the invasion of the Marshalls, Saipan, Tinian and Okinawa, and at the end of the war he was stationed on Saipan. He was sent from there to Nagasaki, Japan, and sailed from Nagasaki for the States. He arrived in San Diego, California, on December 26.
He wears among other decorations, the Presidential Citation and the Expert Rifleman's Medal.
Mr. Barber was engaged in ranching and farming when he volunteered for service in April of 1943, and will return to that business.

Wood Is Serving On USS West Virginia
William R. Wood, S 2/c, Malakoff, is serving aboard the battleship USS West Virginia, which is now bringing servicemen Return To the States from the Pacific.
The ship participated in five campaigns after suffering severe damage at Pearl Harbor. She was the only victim of the Pearl Harbor attack present for the surrender of Japan in Tokyo Bay.

Malakoff Man Is Missing
Lt. Guy E. Matthews, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. G. E. Matthews of Malakoff, has been missing in the Pacific theater since December 13, the War Department has advised his parents.
Lieutenant Matthews is attached to the Thirteenth Air Force Headquarters and is based on Leyte in the Philippines.
He is a graduate of Malakoff High School, and was employed in Beaumont prior to enlisting.

Anderson Visiting Parents In Malakoff
Robert H. Anderson, SC 1/c, son of Mr. and Mrs. P. A. Anderson of Mabank, who recently returned to the States from overseas duty, is at home on leave.
Anderson has made twelve successful patrols with the submarine service, and wears the Navy Cross, Submarine Pin, Army Unit Citation, Presidential Citation, and two personal citations from his commander.
