Mr. Charles Gist Dies; Rites On Tuesday

Funeral services for Charles Middleton Gist 86, former Henderson County resident for about 80 years, were held Tuesday at 3 p.m. at the Schoen Funeral Home at Covington, La.The remains were placed in a mausoleum in the Garden of the Pines at Covington.

Mr. Gist died Sunday morning at Del Ray Beach, Fla.

He was born July 9, 1877, in Chambers County, Ala., and moved to Henderson County when he was two years of age and lived here here until he retired in 1959.

He was a farmer and rancher.

Survivors are his wife, Mrs.Bell Dewberry Gist of Del Ray Beach; one son, Harry G. Gist, of Covington, a resident of Athens until about five years ago; one daughter,
Mrs. Helen Gist Julian, of Del Ray Beach, and five grandchildren.

The obituary says that Mr. Gist died at Del Ray Beach, Florida. The Community news story for Reid's Branch that appeared in the paper the same day June 4,1964 says that they received word that Mr. Gist died at Covington, La. I did not see a death certificate for him. (LGR)
