“Life and Death Come With Tick of Clock for Fifty-One Years”

A family clock that has been on duty fifty-one years with only one or two interruptions and with its slow tick-tock has marked time to both life and death, is shortly to be removed. The clock in question was purchased fifty-one years ago when Rev. M. M. Reeves and his wife were married. It was purchased in Tyler and brought to the Reeves home and for all these years has continued to give service. To its methodical tick eleven children were born in the Reeves household, and each time human hands were passed over the face of the clock as a legend of long life. Under its shadow two grandchildren were likewise born.
But where there is life there must be death. Standing with its vigil over the Reeves household the clock silently ticked its death toll this week when the mother passed to her reward.
And now, after his 26,805,600 minutes of ceaseless ticking the old and hallowed Seth Thomas will find abode in a new home.

(Second clipping only starts with the following)

(Mrs. Lillie B.) Featherstone, Eastland; Mrs. Charlotte McQuien, Leagueville; Carroll Reeves, Norman, Oklahoma, who is a student in the Oklahoma University. Mrs. H.T. Reynolds and Miss Mary Joe Reeves live here.
The latter is a member of the graduating class of the Athens High School.
Mrs. Reeves was 65 years old. She was born in Tarrant County, Texas and was married to Mr. Reeves on January 3, 1877 near Concord, this county. Previous to her marriage she was Miss Nannie Beall, her parents being the early pioneers of Texas.
On the second day of May, Mrs. Reeves received an injury which hastened her death. While going from the house to her yard she fell from the steps to the ground and broke her thigh. She had only recently recovered from influenza and was just able to be out when she was injured. Other complications set in following the injury and she passed away Tuesday morning.
