MORTUARY, ANGEL-Greenville, Tex.June 21-Rev. J. L. Angel died in the Wieland community Friday night. Deceased was 84 years of age and a pioneer Methodist minister, having been engaged in preaching for nearly half a century. Rev. Angel was born in Madison County, Alabama, on March 31, 1829. He was converted in 1849 and the next year was licensed to preach by the Methodist Episcopal Church, South. In 1851 he moved to Texas and joined the East Texas Conference. He was a Confederate soldier and served through the war as a Lieutenant in a Texas company. |
