Darling Family
First off, here’s
what we believe to be the wedding photo of Hector
Darling (1817-1865) and Mary Ann Crane (1826-1874).
Probably taken in New Orleans, I would guess around
1847 (son William was born in 1848).
Next, the newspaper
article recounting the story of Hector’s death and
subsequent reburial.
The article itself is a reminiscence of an earlier
article; neither are dated, but the basic
information comes from around 1900 or so.
Next, photos of Mary Ann
taken later in life and her second husband, Jesse
Hightower (1806-1873), also of Hunt County.
I have no dates on either photo, but the back of
Mary Ann’s is imprinted with “Photographer F W
Knight, Greenville, Texas”.
Photos of three of
Hector and Mary Ann’s children:
Rebecca Ann Darling
Wright Pounders (1855-1943), first husband
Greenberry Wright, second Robert Donaldson Pounders.
Francis Louvenia Darling
Donaldson (1864-1944), husband William Hall
Donaldson
And an earlier photo of
Francis.
John C Darling, 1860-?
John moved to Alabama by 1884. He died after 1910,
possibly in Mississippi, but the actual date and
location are unknown.
For the next generation,
here’s William Adelbert Darling (1870-1957),
grandson of Hector and Mary Ann, son of William C
Darling. Photo taken in 1948 on the occasion of his
78th birthday.
And a group shot of
William with some of his half-siblings. Enoch Green
Jones and Mary Jane White Darling married in Hunt
County, and eventually moved to Jack County where I
assume this undated photo was taken.
Finally, an unidentified
gentleman. No date or other description, but he
clearly resembles at least one of the Darling men.
As far as I can tell, he could be Hector, William C,
or William A.
That’s all I have for
photos for now.
