Four 1972 graduates of Celeste High School, Billy
Barnard, Russell Compton, James LaFavers, and Steve
Armstrong were honored with a buffet supper and bingo
party on Thursday night, May 11, 1972, in the home of
Mr. and Mrs. Doug Armstrong. Co-hostesses were Mrs.
Bobby Compton, Mrs. Bill Barnard, and Mrs. Haskell
LaFavers.
Those who made donations to the Celeste Cemetery were
Mrs. J. M. Passons, Mrs. ViAvia Lanier, Jewell Perkins,
Mrs. O. B. Sinclair, Sarah Adams, Mrs. J. B. Thomason,
Dick Saye, Mrs. E. L. Alexander, M. D. Statzer, Mrs. F.
C. Daniel, Edna Luna Roach, Estalee Rath, Verge Tatum,
Mrs. H. H. Puckett, and Maulden Cemetery Service.
Claud Hunter, Jr., was home after undergoing surgery
last Friday. Mrs. Winnie Hunter, his mother, and Mrs.
Bernice McCurley visited.
Mrs. Tim Gilliam was honored with a baby shower on
Tuesday night in the home of Mrs. Jack Hutcheson.
Hostesses were Jo Willess, Gwen LaFavers, Jessie
LaFavers, Doris Adams, Donna Henslee, Sybil Hutcheson,
and Jan Bailey.
The Kingston 4-H Club and their leaders are proud of the
senior members of the club as they made plans for State
Round-up in June. The contests are on the Texas A&M
campus each year.
The team is composed of Ricky Sanders, Melody Chambliss,
John Cawthon, and Angela Sanders. Ricky Sanders was high
scorer at district in Denton. The Kingston Club is
studying and collecting insects to be used in the study
of entomology.
Jan Chambliss, Nanette Chambliss, Sandra Sanders, and
Roy Chambliss are the junior members.
Mrs. Carl Lamm has trained this team all the way and
will accompany them to College Station.
New subscribers to the paper were Mrs. E. T. Davis,

Ruth Granberry of Dallas.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Childress were honored by a house
warming by the Celeste Church of Christ members.
Jeffrey Babers, eleven year old son of Mr. and Mrs.
Mackie Don Babers is confined to his home after
suffering injuries from a fall at his home Monday night.
Thirty-five stitches were required to close the wound on
his leg.

Locals Receive Degrees at ET
Dr. Paul W. Barrus, English professor, addressed the
eight hundred thirty-three students who received
diplomas during spring graduation at East Texas State
University in Commerce on Saturday evening, May 13,
1972.
In addition to the 665 bachelor's, 157 master's, and
eleven doctoral degrees conferred, ETSU also awarded
three honorary doctor of law degrees.
Local recipients were Michael L. Akins and Howard L.
Roach, Jr., B. S. degrees.
