Miss Marguerite Montgomery of Point and Mr. Sam B. Braziel of Emory were married at Tyler Monday afternoon at 5 o’clock P.M. by Rev. J.C. Calhoun, father of Galloway Calhoun, assistant Attorney General of Texas.

Miss Francis Audelia, sister of the bride, Miss Ethel Whittle, assistant cashier of the First State Bank of Point and Mr. Earl Hill, publisher of the Rains County Leader, accompanied the bride and bridegroom to Tyler for the ceremony which was informal. Immediately after the customary congratulations, the newlyweds departed for a two-week’s sojourn in Colorado Springs, Colo., and other interesting points of the West.

The bride is the charming daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F.C. Montgomery of Point, and a great-granddaughter of Judge Emory Rains, for whom the county of Rains and city of Emory were named, and who figured very prominently in the early history of Texas, he having been a member of both constitutional conventions of Texas, and of the constitutional convention of the Republic of Texas. Also granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. Norman, South Stonewall Street, Greenville, Texas. She was a student at St. Mary’s College, Dallas, completing high school, after which she completed the course of study at Kid Key College at Sherman, Texas. For several years she has been connected with the Public School at Emory. The bridegroom is the assistant cashier of the First National Bank at Emory and a son of A.R. Braziel, whose ancestors date back to an early day in the history of Rains County.

The bride was attired in an ensemble of brown satin matched in harmony with hat, hose and shoes, wearing a corsage of baby-breath, rosebuds, carnations and bridal-wreath, holding in her hand a point-lace handkerchief made by her mother and carried by her at her wedding.

Her sister, Frances, and Miss Ethel Whittle, were beautifully attired in gowns befitting the occasion, wearing corsages of flowers the same as those worn by the bride.

Mr. and Mrs. Braziel will be at home at Emory upon their return. ~ ~ Greenville Banner
