Celeste -vs- Caddo Mills
Last Tuesday night, Celeste and Caddo Mills clashed in two district encounters at Celeste with Celeste coming out victorious in both games.
In the girls' game, the Devilenas kept their district slate clean by defeating the fems from Caddo by a score of 36 to 34. High scorer for Celeste was Janice Thacker with nine points. Elaine Gideon was high for Caddo with sixteen points. That was one night that the Celeste team was very fortunate to be blessed with two teams of forwards. Both teams of forwards saw action in the game and some people say that this was the determining factor of the game. On the guards' end, Sandra Mulkey, Marsha Gilliam, Linda Justus, and Nancy Stapleton all played a good game for Celeste.
Joe Tillerson ripped the net for eighteen points to lead his team to a 53 to 35 victory over the visiting team. David Pruitt scored fourteen points and Lloyd Lanier had nine to closely follow Joe. Farr was high point for Caddo Mills with ten points.
These were the fourth straight district wins for both boys and girls in the second round. This past week is to decide whether there will be a playoff or not in the race for the District Championship.
