The cotton mill is about ready to run and we expect to see some smoke and hear some noise in a few days. Owing to an accident to the smoke stack, there has been a little delay in getting started. The machinery is in fairly good condition and there is no doubt but that it can be run profitably.

The rooming house owned by Mrs. J. T. Harrell at Mineral Wells burned with several others on Tuesday night. It is not known the amount of insurance. The property was valued at $10,000.

R. W. Blankenship, J. S. Collins, and N. B. Stansell are good men who use the split log drag. W. R. Smalley used the harrow on the roads, all with splendid results.

Will Taylor returned from Briscoe, Arizona, and reports business dull out there owing to the miners' strike. The two Pierson boys and Dave Mulkey went to California.

Fred A. Cummock of South Carolina, the manager of the Perrin Cotton Mills, came in Friday and took charge of the business end of the mil. He is also a thorough factory man and knows how to manage a factory in order to make it pay.
