Celeste PTA Group Topic, 'Family Ties'
Celeste--"Understanding Our Changing Families" is the theme of the Celeste Parent Teacher Association this year.
Meetings are held the second Tuesday of each month during the school year in the high school auditorium.
The object of the association is to promote the welfare of children and youth in the home, school, church, and community; to raise the standards of home life; to secure adequate laws for the care and protection of children and youth; to bring into closer relation the home and school so that parents and teachers may cooperate intelligently in the training of the child and to develop between educators and the general public united efforts to secure for every child the highest advantage in physical, mental, social, and spiritual education.
Officers are Mrs. Paul Hopson, president; Mrs. Edwin West, first vice-president; Mrs.. B. F. Rubarts, second vice-president; Mrs.. George Allen, third vice-president; Mrs. J. D. Gay, Jr., fourth vice-president; Mrs. Roy Chambliss, secretary; Mrs. Phillips Wilburn, treasurer; Mrs. H. B. LaFavers, parliamentarian; Mrs. Ted Daniels, historian and reporter; and Miss Mary Eastwood, music. (October 27, 1968, The Greenville Herald Banner)
