In an altercation, which occurred at Dibble, a small village twenty miles west of Purcell, Indian Territory, on Monday night at 11:00 PM, Dr. J. H. Howard, a prominent physician and citizen of that community, was shot and instantly killed by Ernest Reisor, a farmer, who was mortally wounded and lies at the point of death at the home of Chris Williams, near Dibble.

The trouble grew out of an application to membership in the Anti-Horse Thief Association made by Howard and objected to by Reisor. After adjournment of a meeting of the Association, Reisor was met by Howard and after a few words, the shooting began. Six shots were fired, probably three by each man. At the third shot, Howard fell with a bullet pierced through his heart.

Reisor was shot through the thigh, and is still living.

Ernest Reisor was formerly a resident of Celeste and is a brother to Mrs. Ida Roach. His wife is the daughter of J. H. Lewis, formerly of Celeste, now of Comanche.
