Rhonda Yarborough of Caldwell, Texas, became the bride of Ray Evans of Celeste, June 27, at 7:30 in the evening in the First Baptist Church, Caldwell. The father of the bride, Elder Omer Yarborough, performed the double-ring ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Omer Yarborough and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Evans, Jr., of Celeste.
The altar was centered with a unity candle flanked on each side by brass cathedral candelabras. Magnolia leaves and English ivy with votive candles completed the altar adornment.
Mrs. Alice Watson, organist, played the traditional wedding march and Mrs. Melissa Prescott accompanied herself at the piano as she sang "I Can See Forever in Your Eyes," "Longer," and "The Wedding Song."
The bride, given in marriage by her father, chose a gown of white organza fashioned with Venice lace. Her bodice was beautifully accented with touches of lace. The Victorian neckline added a lovely affect. The full bishop sleeves were delicately done in the sheer organza, the wide cuff was done with touches of lace. The A-line skirt had lace appliqué in front. Lace accented the bottom and flowed into a chapel length train. Her matching veil of Venice was held by a Juliet cap covered with lace and seed pearls and held three tiers of illusion with lace appliqués on the second layer. She carried a cascading bouquet of her chosen colors of peacock blue silk roses and light blue silk mums with white silk tubal roses and baby's breath with lace and ribbon streamers.
The mother of the bride, Mrs. Fairy Yarborough, attended her daughter as matron of honor. The bridesmaids were Mrs. Sheri Richards of La Grange, Mrs. Caron Emola of Bryan, Katrinka Barrow and Cynthia Buddenbert, both of Houston, and Mrs. Diana Yarborough of Dallas.
The matron of honor wore a peacock blue chiffon, featuring a capelette-collar and fitted bodice with a full skirt and self-tie belt. The bridesmaids wore the identical pattern except theirs were made of sateen polyester with a chiffon collar.
The groom's mother chose a pale blue crepe floor-length gown with a bolero jacket of matching material and she wore a corsage of white daisies.
The groom wore a white tuxedo with white satin lapels and a white ruffled shirt. His boutonniere was made of light blue and white silk miniature roses.
Serving as best man was David West of Celeste, and groomsmen were Jerry Trammel of Sherman, Gil Walters, John Lee, and Bruce Martin, all of College Station, and Stephen Yarborough of Dallas, brother of the bride. They wore light blue tuxedos with white ruffled shirts and blue silk daisy boutonnières.
Serving as usher was Larry Trammel of Celeste. He was dressed in a light blue tuxedo and white ruffled shirt.
Candle lighter Eric Evans, brother of the groom, wore a light blue tuxedo and a blue silk boutonniere.
Jared Evans, brother of the groom, served as ring bearer. He was dressed in a white tuxedo similar to the groom and carried a blue and white lace pillow.
A reception was held in the Family Life Center immediately following the ceremony. Members of the house party were Janet Luedke of Brenham, Ginger Braly, and Renee Braly of Caldwell.
The bride's table held a three-tier white cake trimmed with light and dark blue Forget-Me-Nots and topped with large double satin wedding bells. The cake was resting on a fountain with blue flowing water. On either side of the bridal cake were crystal candle sticks holding light blue candles.
The groom's table held a chocolate cake with white frosting and topped with the letters in maroon and white "A&M." Also on the table was a silver coffee service.
A rehearsal dinner was proved by the groom's parents at the Surrey Inn. At this time, Rhonda and Ray present gifts to the bridesmaids and groomsmen.
After a short honeymoon trip, the couple will reside in College Station where they are both presently attending Texas A&M.
Ray is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Evans of Leonard and Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Evans, Sr., of Celeste.
