COMMERCE — Anne Theresa Smith, 86, of Commerce died Oct. 16, 2006, at her home. Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church in Commerce with Rev. Lisa Greenwood-Wolcott officiating. Burial will be in Beaverdale Memorial Park in Connecticut. The daughter of William Earl and Theresa Dolan Kluth, she was born Sept. 17, 1920, in New Haven, Conn. On May 19, 1951, she was married to Norman Eugene Smith in New Haven. Mrs. Smith worked as an insurance adjuster supervisor for The Hartford in the 1950s. She was a homemaker. She was a member for most of her life of The Grange — local, Pomana, state and national — and received many awards for her leadership role. She and her husband taught Sunday school in the Orange Congregational Church in Connecticut for many years. Mrs. Smith loved animals, sewing, and collecting stuffed animals and teddy bears. She loved to cook and had a large collection of cookbooks from around the world. She was always traveling to country fairs in Connecticut. She was an avid baseball fan. Survivors are one daughter, Mailynn Anne Ketner and husband Darrell, and three grandchildren, Justin Lee Ketner, Anna Faye Ketner and Christopher Allan Ketner, all of Commerce. Pallbearers are Justin Ketner, Kraig Reeves, Austin Hammonds, Mick Stauffer, Josh McGuyer and Johnny Kirkpatrick. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother, Earl Curran; and three sisters, Verna Trelore, Madeleine Mucha and Greta Himes. Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Jones-Walker & Son Funeral Home of Commerce.
