Mrs. Annie Elizabeth Spaulding Williams

Mrs. Annie Elizabeth Spaulding Williams, 82, a resident of Hunt County since a small child, passed away Thursday, February 23, 1950, at 9:45 AM, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. E. T. Fry, 115 Commerce Highway, Reavilon.

Although Mrs. Williams had been in ill health for a number of years, she became suddenly ill only a few hours before her death.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 Saturday, February 25, 1950, at the Gray-Ballard-Sorrells Chapel. Dr. Earl Patton and the Rev. Ralph Barcelo of Celeste are to conduct the services, which will be followed by burial in East Mount Cemetery.

The body will remain at the Gray-Ballard-Sorrells Funeral Home.

When a small child Mrs. Williams came to Hunt County and settled in the Wagner community with her parents, Dr. T. B. Spaulding and Dorothy James Williams Spaulding. She had resided in Celeste and Hunt County since that time. Three years ago, she moved to Greenville and was making her home with her daughter.

Mrs. Williams was born on December 7, 1865, at Mansfield, Louisiana. On October 15, 1889, she was married to Dr. Eugene Williams at Kingston. The couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary at Celeste in 1939, and Mrs. Williams passed away on July 7, 1941.

She united with the Methodist Church at Celeste early in life, and as long as her health permitted she was active in its affairs. She remained loyal to her home, her friends said.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Fry; two grandchildren, E. T. Fry, Jr., of Victoria and Mrs. Chapman Hemsell of Port Lavaca; two great-grandchildren, Roddy Hemsell and Steve Fry.

One son, Dr. T. S. Williams, a prominent Dallas surgeon for thirty-three years, died on July 18, 1946.
