Arvel Merril Stansel, 85, of Greenville died Dec. 7, 2006, at a nursing facility in Greenville. He was born Jan. 28, 1921, in Caddo Mills, son of Leonard and Iva Stansel. Mr. Stansel served in the U. S. Air Force for 26 years and in civil service for 13 years. He served in the Korean War and World War II and received many various medals and awards. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Big Spring.
Survivors are his wife, Patricia Watts of Greenville; two sons, Arvel W. Stansel of Big Spring and Charles L. Stansel of Houston; a daughter, Claudia K. Stansel of Abilene; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Armon Stansel, and his first wife, Wanda Jane Baker Stansel.
An inurnment service is scheduled at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the D/FW National Cemetery.
