Bennie Stephen Dobbins, 64, of the Merit Community died the morning of Feb. 11, 2007, at his home. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. today at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home chapel, 5100 Interstate 30, with Rev. Jerry L. Brewster officiating. Burial follows in Bethel Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Fabian Harmon, Terry Hensley, Harold Hensley, Steve Painter, Michael Ishmael, Jerry Biggs, Mike PeLuso, Dwayne Kent and Sam Rattan.
The son of Robert Henry and Letris Ballard Dobbins, he was born Dec. 23, 1942, in Coleman. On May 5, 1971, he married Joyce Kay Ishmael in Dallas.
Mr. Dobbins served in the U.S. Navy. He was a building manager for General Services Administration.
Surviving are his wife of Merit; his mother of Dallas; a son, Joshua Dobbins of Merit; daughter Kelly Dobbins of Lubbock; and granddaughter Olivia Grace Dobbins of Lubbock.
He was preceded in death by his father on April 21, 2003, and a son, Bryan Dobbins, on Dec. 27, 1988.
