Bessie Boydston Little
Mrs. Bessie Little, 73, well known Hunt County woman, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. C. M. Price, 1230 Walnut Street at 7:00 AM, following an illness of several months duration. Mrs. Little had made her home at Floyd for the past few years,but recently when her condition became so serious she was brought to this city.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM, September 30, 1931, from the home of Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Price, 1230 Walnut Street, conducted by the Rev. R. E. Porter, pastor of Lee Street Methodist Church, assisted by the Rev. Hightower, of Floyd. Burial was made in McWright Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were __ Terry, Paul Greenwade, __ Camp, W. S. Blakemore, Emmett Price, and Bill Spoonemore.
Mrs. Little was born in East Texas, near Jefferson, on May 24, 1858, and was reared in Jefferson. She came to Hunt County when a young woman and taught music in this city for a number of years. She was united in marriage to Tom Little on May 24, 1888, and had since made her home in Greenville and other Hunt County towns.
Following the death of her husband in June of 1897, Mrs. Little again took up the teaching of music and school, having been active in this work in several Hunt County towns, including Greenville, Floyd, Wagner, and Kingston. Mrs. Little was a woman of noble Christian character and throughout her life she was active in following the work of the Master. She was united with the Methodist Church at an early age and until a few weeks ago, when she was stricken so seriously ill, she was active in the Methodist Church at Floyd, where she had been a member for several years. Mrs. Little had been a resident of Hunt County for more than fifty years and had endeared herself to hundreds of friends who will mourn her passing. She was always ready to administer to the needs of her loved ones and was forever thoughtful of her fellowman.
Mrs. Little is survived by the following children: Mrs. C. M. Price, and Mrs. Homer Wright, of this city; Charles Little of Grand Prairie and Benjamin Little; a brother, B. F. Boydston of Waco, and thirteen grandchildren.
