Charles Michael Brantley, 26, of Greenville died July 12, 2006. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Aldersgate Church under the direction of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Mark Griffin and Rev. Chuck Ballard will officiate. Burial will follow at Memoryland Memorial Park. Son of Charles Ray and Nancy Reynolds Brantley, he was born Jan. 19, 1980, in Greenville. A member of the Ninth Texas Infantry Civil War Re-enactment Unit, he appeared in numerous educational films and some movies about the Civil War era. He had several poems published, and one received The Editor’s Choice Award. During the flooding of the Mississippi River in 1993, he helped towns in Georgia, Missouri and Alabama and received certificates of appreciation from the Red Cross and from several of the towns he helped. He was a member of Aldersgate Church and was a college student. Charles Michael was a good son and brother and was kind-hearted to everyone. Surviving are his parents of Greenville; a sister, Jennifer Brantley of Greenville; grandmother Beulah Reynolds of Greenville; uncles and aunts Bill and Barbara Reynolds, Jerry and Norma Reynolds, David and Gay Brantley, Jack and Maxine Brantley and Gary and Sherry Brantley; an aunt and uncle, Theresa and Larry Gray; an uncle John Brantley; and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Floyd Reynolds and C.H. and Ruth Brantley, and an uncle, Carroll Brantley. Members of the Ninth Texas Infantry Civil War Re-enactment Unit will serve as pallbearers. Visitation is from 6 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
