Claudie D. “Son” Lewis died Aug. 17, 2006. The son of Chester and Sadie Lewis, he was born April 14, 1927, in Pittsburg. He attended elementary school in Pittsburg. Mr. Lewis served in the U.S. Army. He was known as “Uncle Son” to many. Those left to cherish his memories are his wife, Nora Ivery-Lewis; five children, Claudie D. Lewis Jr. of Germany, Leanna Ivery of Dallas, Claudia Berneice Jackson and Sadie Hearne of Greenville and Robert Charles Lewis of Nacogdoches; six sisters, Bessie Conley of Los Angeles, Calif., Ella Bonner, Sandy Gant, and Zelma Mae Brown of Greenville, Dorothy Faye Lewis of Dallas, and Lula Huddleston of Shamblee, Ga.; and two brothers, James Williams of Dallas and Roy Lee Williams of Greenville; 15 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers-in-law, Donnie Traylor and Dewey Traylor; two sisters-in-law, Edna Warren and Maragie Ivory; and a host of nieces, nephews cousins and other relatives. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Hulene Hale and Lula Mae Jose; and five brothers, Chester Lewis, Hargie D. Lewis, Harvey D. Lewis, Robert Williams Jr. and R.D. Talley. Funeral services are at 1 p.m. Saturday at Truevine Baptist Church with Rev. M.M. McPherson officiating. Burial is in Grundy Memorial Park. Visitation is from noon to 7 p.m. today and from 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Grace & Mercy Funeral Home in Greenville.
