CLARKSVILLE — Dewey Thomas, 71, of Detroit, Texas, died Saturday, March 3, 2007, in Hospice of East Texas in Tyler.
Dewey was born March 22, 1935, in Commerce; the son of Henry Thomas and Emily Plunkett Vinson.
He was a member of the Lone Star Congregational Methodist Church. His biggest hobby was his grandkids.
Surviving are his wife, Marline Gilmer Thomas, who he married on July 11, 1953, in Commerce; two daughters, Sarena and husband David Owens of Yantis, Suzann and husband Don of Clarksville; sister, Kathryn and husband Harold Verner of Detroit, Texas; grandchildren, Jill Kinsley and husband Daniel of Tyler, Cory Owens of Tyler and Kyle Shovan of Clarksville; nieces and nephews, Pam, Donnie, Jennifer and Bryan Hays of Detroit, Texas.
He was preceded in death by a nephew, Charles Thomas Verner.
Funeral services are at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 6, 2007, at Lone Star Congregational Methodist Church with Revs. Don Shovan, Don Benton and Dink Benton officiating. Burial is at 2 p.m. at Rosemound Cemetery in Commerce.
Pallbearers are Cory Owens, Kyle Shovan, Daniel Kinsley, Donnie Hays, Brian Hays and Scotty Coleman.
Visitation is from 6 to 7:30 p.m. today at Clarksville Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the Hospice of East Texas, 4111 University Boulevard, Tyler, 75701.
