Donald D. Allen, 73, of Merit died the morning of August 5, 2007, at his residence. Funeral services are at 10:00 AM Thursday, August 9, 2007, at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Loren Everett and the Rev. Dan Williford officiating. Burial is in Merit Cemetery.
Visitation is from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, August 8, 2007, at the funeral home.
The son of Charles and Johnnie Pauline Barner Allen, he was born October 19, 1933, in Tyler. On March 25, 1969, he married Barbara Ozbirn in Dallas.
Mr. Allen served in the US Navy. He was a market manager for Skaggs Albertson’s.
Surviving are his wife of Merit; a son, Larry Allen of Tyler; stepson Richard Byers of Merit; three daughters and a son-in-law, Janet and Kenneth Sheats of Tyler, Shelia Jones of Tyler and Sharla Watts of Cash; two brothers, James Allen of Rockford, Illinois, and Von Allen of Bleibleville; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
His parents and a brother, Preston Allen, preceded him in death.
Pallbearers are L. D. Ford, C. J. Johnson, Wayne Prittiget, Kenny Williams, John Chronister and Bob Murray.
